The Richardson Family Arrives in America

George Richardson arrived in New York August 29, 1823 on the ship Brok, from Greenock, England. The ship manifest listed George, with son George Jr. (10) and Nicholas (8). The September of the following year, George's wife, Sophie Jane, arrived in Baltimore with son Joseph (6), Samuel (4) and daughter Eliza (3). We know from a birth and baptismal record that Sophie remained behind in Glasgow to have baby Jane, born August 25th 1823. Jane was baptized November 11, of the same year in St. John's chapel in Glasgow. Either baby Jane died before Sophie Jane arrived in Baltimore in 1824, or was not counted in the manifest.
