Will of Florence Graham, 1824

In the name of God. Amen.
                                           The 25th day of March 1824. I Florence Graham of Monroe County and state of Virginia being old and infirm in body, but of perfect mind, and memory, thanks be given to God therefor[,] calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all mankind once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, priciply and first of all I give and recommen [sic] my soul unto the hands of of [sic] Almightly Gopd that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buryed in decent Christian buryal, nothing doubting but at the general resuration I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of Godand as touching such worldy Estate wherewith it pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form -- first it is mywill that all my just debts and funeral expences be first paid out of my estate; Second it is my Will that my son James' Graham's daughter Florence shall have my Lodging Bed and Bedstead, two Blankets, two sheets, two pillows + a coverlid. Third, I give my son Lanty Graham's daughter Florence, my sorel Mares, your Colt, or fifteen dollars. fourth, I give to William Graham's daughter Florence one of my best colts [?]. fifth. I give to Joseph Graham's daughter Florence so much out off [sic] the money the money that Joseph Graham is owing me as will buy her a good saddle, Seventh. It is my will that William Taylors son James shall have a Ten dollar note said Taylor gave me for a gun. Eighth. It is my will that my son David Graham's son's [sic] David Graham & William Harrison shall have the money which Mary Graham is owing me by note, Ninth. It is my will that all my wearing apparel shall  be equally divided, between my four Daughters, also all my household furniture, Linen Bedding, Trunks, Chests, queens ware &c including everything, thing that belongs to the house to be divided amoung my four daughters equally also. Tenth, I give to my daughter Elizabeth Studghill my silk Cloak and a silk gownd and silk enough to make sleaves to the ground. also give to Joel Studghill's daughther Florence one Cow. Eleventh, I give to my son Lanty's son James Jackson four sheep, two ewes and two Lambs. Twelfth, It is my will that James Madison Graham and Elizabeth children of my son Samuel Graham have a note which I have on Samuel Graham, D. C.,  for twenty dollars and sixty six cents which is indue me. -- It is my Will that my son William Graham have my book case. also I give my Daughter Jane Garrett my negro woman named Rose. also all my farming utensil are to be sold and equally divided among my children, also my waggon and gears and Wind Mill to be sold and divided among my children, I give to them and their heirs forever. The balance of my property is to be sold and divided between my four daughters and two sons equally, I do also appoint John Hinchman and John Roach to be my Executors of this my last will and testament, Given under my hand and seal the day and date above written.

It is my will that Smithy [?] Graham have ten dollars, Juhew Graham have ten dollars and Siras Graham ten dollars out of a Bond due me from James Graham jr. decd. and tho said Bond is not to bare any Interest

At Monroe December Court 1824
                                                     This Last Will and testament of Florence Graham decd. was presented in Court and proven by the oaths of Saml. Gwinn and Abel Taylor two of the subscribing witnesses thereto this same is ordered to be recorded. & on motion of John Hinchman and John Roach the Executors therein named who made oath together with Conrad Peters and William Graham their security entered into + acknowledged bond in the penalty of two thousand dollars, conditioned as the law directs, certificate for obtaining probat thereof in due form is granted them.
