 1  According to passenger records for the Defence which sailed in 1635, Elizabeth (Symes) French was 30 or 32.
 2  William French Jr. (son of William and Elizabeth Symes French) is listed as age 10 when the Defence sailed to America in 1635; this conflicts with a reported marriage date for his parents of Nov. 20, 1631.  The 1623 marriage date seems more likely--although the specificity of the 1631 date warrants further investigation.
