1 According to an article in the Long Island Press, dated Sep. 6, 1966 (the day before she turned 100), she was born in Alsace; however, according to her daughter, she was born in Nieder-Saulheim, Germany. Furthermore, Krohle family members continue to live in Saulheim. Therefore, we conclude that Nieder-Saulheim is correct.
2 From photographs sent to Margarethe (Krohle) Schmidt and taken in 1964 of "My grandmother, your sister Bette, at her 90th birthday", we surmise that Elisabeth "Bette" Krohle was born 1874 and died after 1964.
