There are probably a dozen or more members of the Jones family on this list, including William Lee Jones,
He was commonly known as Lee, one of the most uncommon men you'd ever meet. It was he who rescued
the cemetery out of the bushes, cleaned it up, did away with many many field stones used as head markers
(which had no inscription at all one them) and replaced them with concrete markers, legally separated
the cemetery from the church (with church's approval) so as to make it managable, established a non-profit
foundation which at this time has amassed a trust fund of more than $60,000. Lee Jones, who had a vast
historical interest in every aspect of Cleburne, provided the sole leadership in renovating that cemetery
and giving it new life, and, incidentally, buying additional adjoining land so folks could continueto bury there
-- the cemetery was full.
The annual Sacred Harp singing, takes place here on 3rd Sunday in May.
