BLANTON - Zelma Oree Lewis, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 30, at home.  Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at Edens Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  Burial: Covington Cemetery.  Officiant: Preston Cotham.

Zelma Oree Lewis was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Osceola, the daughter of George Henry Johnson and Winnie Yocham Johnson. She grew up in the Blanton Community of Hill County and attended school in Osceola.

She married Alonzo W. (Buddy) Lewis on Sept. 3, 1931. They lived near Tulare, Calif., for 25 years before returning to Blanton Community. She was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert L. Johnson, on Aug. 1, 1990.

Survivors: Husband, Alonzo (Buddy) Ward Lewis of Blanton; one brother and two sisters-in-law, D. R. and Wilma Johnson of North Richland Hills and Connie Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby P. and L. D. Thompson of McMinnville, Ore., and Nina R. and E. Cass Underdown of Osceola; and numerous nieces and nephews.
