John W. McCorvey Sr.

1919 - 2001


John William McCorvey Sr., 81, of Junction City, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Medical Center of South Arkansas, following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 16, 1919, in Junction City, he was the son of William A. "Lon" and Corrine Britt McCorvey. He had been employed as a security officer at Warner Brown Hospital and had retired as a truck driver with Butane Gas Company. He was a former member of Junction City town council and constable of the Henderson Township. He had served on the Union County Equalization Board for ten years. He was a member of F. and A.M. Lodge #529 of Junction City. He was also a deacon at Scotland Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Neil McCorvey; and one sister, Lorene Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine M. McCorvey of Junction City and his son, Bill McCorvey of Calion.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Scotland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Francis Thom and Don Nance officiating. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
