Dillard Jeans, age 83, a long-time resident of Jonesboro, died May 8, 1997, at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis. Mr. Jeans was a farmer prior to working for FMC Manufacturing in Jonesboro. He was a member of Strawfloor Baptist Church. He was married to Bytha Davis on December 13, 1933, in Strawberry. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Jeans, Mill Springs, N.C., and David Jeans, Jonesboro; three daughters, Veneda Hocaday, Creedmore, N.C., Erma Lee Evans, Jonesboro and Brendene Barkley, Winnipeg, Manatoba, Canada; a brother, Leon Jeans, Koshkonong, Mo., four sisters, Virgie Wells, Rockford, Ill., Dorothy Dority, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Edith Horsman, Calico Rock and Viola Scallions, St. Louis, Mo; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Saturday afternoon at 3:00 at the Strawfloor Baptist Church with Bros. Mark Sadler and R. W. Goodman officiating. Burial was in the Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
