Know all men by these presents that I, Samuel Kight, a resident citizen of said State and Parish, being of a sound mind and disposing mind and memory do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoke and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First—I desire and direct the payment of all my just debts.

Secondly—I desire my nephew, John J. Jean, to have one hundred and sixty acres of my land.

Thirdly—I give and bequeath to my wife, Sarah A. Kight, the remainder of my estate, consisting of land, horses, mules, wagons, hogs, cattle, choses in action, provisions, household and kitchen furniture and all other property of every kind and description that I own or possess to have and to hold during her lifetime or widowhood and then to be equally distributed amongst my children. I further constitute and appoint my wife, Sarah A. Kight, Executrix of this my last will and testament and authorize and empower her as such to settle up the affairs pertaining to my estate. I further direct that no action be had in the Parish Court in regard to my estate other than the probation of my will and the registration of an inventory and the appraisement of the property of my estate. I further desire that no Bond or Security be required of said Executrix by virtue of this appointment, and that none be required of her in the management of the affairs of my said estate and that as my said Executrix she be fully authorized to close out all the matters of my said estate as speedily as possible and as she may think for the interest of the estate.

I further desire that J. D. Watkins of the Parish of Webster and State of Louisiana act as the agent and legal adviser of my said Executrix in the management and settlement of all matters pertaining to my said estate and for which purpose he is hereby constituted and appointed. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name in presence of the subscribing witnesses of lawful age and domicile whom I have requested to sign the same as witnesses on this the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.
