The Chapman Book states:
John "removed to Colchester, probably in the year 1706. He deeds property, April 15, 1706, (town of Colchester,) to his brother William, of New London. He was living at Colchester in May, 1748, when it was observed that he would be 95 years old next November. Of course, he was born in November, 1653. There are deeds of lands on Colchester records to six sons, and whether he had daughters, does not appear."

"Notes for Samuel Chapman: Genealogical and Biographical record of New London County, CT J.H. Beers & Co. 1905
Samuel, the ancestor of the Waterford branch of the family, lived in the Cohanzie district, reared to maturity nine children, and died November 2, 1756."
The Chapman Book states " Samuel Chapman, son of William Chapman, the settler, married a lady whose Christian name was Bethiah, but whose family name is not known. He resided in what is called the Cohantic District, and previous to his decease, conveyed his homestead to his son Nathaniel. (Note: Nathaniel is not listed as a son in this book). He died November 2, 1758, age 93."

Will dated 21 August, 1724: Whereas, in time past, by a deed of guift, I have given to my son Solomon the farm which I now live upon, and have given to each of my other children what I designed they shall have of my estate saving the small legacies hereafter mentioned, I give unto Lydia, my wife, all my personal estate which I have now or may have at the time of my decease, to her only and sole use and disposal forever, with this proviso, that in a seasonable time after my decease she pay to each of my sons and daughters, both by
my former and present wife, the sum of 5 shillings in money, which shall be in full of their several portions of my estate. I appoint my wife Lydia sole executor.

Chapman, Jeremiah, of N. London, teacher of the grammar school there, in 1738."
The Chapman Book, page 268 states " He resided in New London on the paternal homestead, and, as Miss Caulkins informs us, was teacher of the grammar-school in 1738 (Vide History of New London, page 299)."
Page 45 of the diary of Joshua Hempstead states:"Apr Mon 25 1755 C. Christopohers Chosen Capt o ye 2n Company & Lt Latimer Capt of ye first & Clemt Minio Lieut & Jeremiah Chapman Ensign & Chr Darro Sergt."
Page 181 of the diary of Joshua Hempstead states Mar 30 1727 Wm Watkins an Irishman was Branded in ye forehead & had his Right Ear Cut of or Cropt for Burglary for breaking into Mr. Chapman's house on the Sabath or lords day & Stealing a hatt Cloth's & money to ye valle of L22 which he Restored & was also to pay ye Sd Lt Jere Chapman L44 he to be Sold [ ].
