1. Martin DILMANN was born before 1485 in Oelbronn, Germany and died before 1550 in Oelbronn, Germany.
Martin married.
The first generation came from Oelbronn, from Eisingen or from another town in the Kraichgau county. Because none of the data found shows any birth or death dates we can not trace them correctly.
These birth and death data have been assumed. The name Dilman appears for the first time in 1512 in the documents of the monastery Maulbronn, which belongs to Wurmberg, then again in the Herdstaetten register Oelbronn dated 1525. ( ref: (Hauptstaatsarchiv Stuttgart A 54 Bueschel 39).(Main city archives Stuttgart A 54, Bueschel 39))
Martin, Hans and Veith Dilmann are mentioned in the following documents until 1567: Hauptstaatsarchiv Stuttgart H 102-49 Vol. 50, A 28 II M 173, A 28 II M 292, A 468a GLE 10.
Further Dilman families can be found in numerous documents in the Kraichgau county (between the towns of Heidelberg and Pforzheim). 1517 a Thomas Dilman charges interest to the Pforzheim hospital. (General-Landes-Archiv Karlsruhe 410/429, page 129).
1374, a Reinhard Dielmann is renting a property in Oberacker from the monastery in Herrenalb.
1431, Hans Dylmann witnesses the rental of a farm in Oberacker (Orts-Sippenbuch Oberacker = town family-book Oberacker)
1580-1635 several Dilmann families can be found living in Eisingen. Church books in Eisingen start with 1580. The following is taken from the Web page of Erich Dihlmann:
"The results of years of research of E. Dillman were originally assembled and printed as a 350 page book:
Dillmann/Dihlmann FAMILY REGISTRY, 1536-1986
In the meantime the book has gone out of print and can be found for viewing only in the following places: The Wurttemberg Union for Family and Coat of Arms Studies, in Wurttemberg and Baden in Stuttgart, The German Library in Frankfurt, The Stuttgart State Library, The Baden State Library in Karlsruhe, The Dillman Gymnasium (a university prep school where, according to a translator, they prepare the kids for the "real" world by teaching them modern languages and mathematics as opposed to the "Humanistische Gymnasium" where they place more emphasis on old languages to prepare kids for a study of law, divinity and medicine) in Stuttgart, the German Genealogical Society of America in Los Angeles, the Pforzheim City Archive, and the Archive of the District of Enz at the Office of the Enz District Administration in Pforzheim.
In its original version, the book contains 530 families with 1850 people who were descendants of the lancer/pike bearer Michael Dhyllmann who was registered in 1536 in Vaihingen/Enz as a citizen of Wurmberg. The family name appears in the following spellings:
Dilman, Tilmann, Thilmann, Duellmann, Dillmann, Dihlmann.
The collection is being continually augmented and it has come into our data bank. Today most descendants live in Baden-Wurttemberg and as outmigrants in North and South America. The outmigrants have to date only been partially registered. We would like further information on that score."
