Our Old Kentucky Home:
Outbuildings and Property
Eight
outbuildings exist on the property: carriage house, meat house, barn, chicken house, hen
house, underground dairy house, log cabin, and garden shed. The log cabin predates
the house, having been built in the 1840's when the Hammond's original house was
approximately 1/2 mile from the current house. The barn dates to the 1880's and has
newspapers from the 1890's glued to the walls for insulation. All other
buildings date to around 1900.
