Will of Samuel H. Eikleberger

Dated 01 March 1890 ~ Proved June 1903

In the name of God Amen.  I, Samuel H. Eikleberger of Washington county in the State of Maryland being of perfect health of body, and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time there of and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me home into therefore make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say.

First and principally I command my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor here in after named, after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows: Twenty-two dollars to my wife of the first monies that come into the hands of my Executor.  Also, to my said wife all the goods that she brought with her at the time of our marriage.  Also one set of Glass ware consisting of four pieces that I brought and presented to her during my lifetime.  Also my wife to select one bed complete for her use.  I devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal to be sold by my said Executor and the money arising from the sale thereof to be equally divided among my dear wife Sarah E. Eikleberger and among my sons Jacob T. Eikleberger, George W. Eikleberger and Daniel A. Eikleberger and daughters Martha A. and Mary E. Eikleberger in equal portions, share and share alike and my wife also to have one walnut or one walnut colored sink now in my possession.  And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons George W. and Jacob T. Eikleberger to be my sole Executers of this my last Will and Testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me theretofore make, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last Will and testament.

In testimony where of I here unto set my hand and seal this First day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Samuel H. Eikleberger as and for his last Will and testament, in our presence, who, at his request in his presence and in presence of each other have hereto set our hands as witnessed hereto.

Codicil

And whereas, I did constitute and appoint my sons George W. Eichleberger and Jacob T. Eikleberger to be my executors of my said Will becuring date March 1st 1890 Now I do by this my Codicil, will, and do hereby revoke my appointment of them as such and in there room and stead hereby constitute and appoint George M. Grove to be sole executor of my said Will as fully and effectually as if he and no other person had been originally in and by said Will constituted and appointed executor thereof.

Inn testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Ninety Six.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by Samuel Eikleberger the above named Testator as and for a Codicil to his last Will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our named as witnessed Thereto.

State of Maryland, Washington county to Wit:

On the 23" day of June 1903 came Samuel C. Brewer and on the 26" day of June 1903 came Joseph C. Hershberger two of the three subscribing witnessed to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Samuel H. Eikleberger late of Washington County deceased, and made oath in due form of Law, that they did see the Testator make his mark to and seal said Unit(?), that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they together with George M. Grove who is now dead and when they saw do the same subscribed their names as witnessed to said Will, at his request, in his presence and in the presence of each other.

State of Maryland, WashingtonCounty:

On the 23rd day of June 1903 came Wm D. Cowdess and on the 26" day of June 1903 came Joseph C. Hershberger two of the three subscribing witnessed to the aforegoing Codicil to the last Will and testament of Samuel Eikleberger late of Washington County deceased and made oath in due form of law, that they did see the said Testator sign and seal said Codicil to his last Will and Testament that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be a Codicil to his last Will and Testament; that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and that they together with J. R. E. Brewer who is now a resident of Pennsylvania and whom they saw do the same subscribed their names as witnesses to said Codicil to said last Will and Testament in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other
