!Alfred sailed to America on the "Hudson" on June 3, 1864 . He was th e only
member of his family to travel on the ship. His occupatio n was calle d a
"messenger". His home address was 9 Wellington Rd., Silve r Hill, Has tings,
Sussex, England. He probably crossed the plains with Capt . William H yde's Ox
Train of 1864 which arrived in the Valley on October 26, 18 64.
