". . . d. 1102. Married to the strong-minded Adela, daughter of William the Conqueror. In 1096, when he was about 50 years old, he took part in the First Crusade. Ran away during the siege of Antioch and returned to France. in 1101 he commanded a new crusade and was killed at the battle of Ramleh."
