James Black b KY m Eliza Ann Odell b NY; son of John Black, native of PA and served in the war of 1812 went to KY in 1834 were he was killed by an elephant while attending the circus in Covington, IN. James moved to Vermillion Co., IL 1856 d 1894. 35. James Black b SC 1855 (date of b is incorrect) son of Alexander Black, a native of Ireland. Moved to White Co., IL in 1838 and m Mary E. Giles. Of their l3 children, only 5 are living now: Mary P., Elizabeth G., Andrew G., Isabella S.A., and John W. An orphan grandson, Christopher C, son of Robert T. Black resides with the family. Gain Robinson Black b Guernsey Co., OH 1823 son of Joseph Wayne Black b 1793 d Guernsey Co., OH 1851 and Eliza Hutchinson, dau of Wyatt Hutchinson and Elizabeth Majors, natives of Virginia who migrated with their respective families to OH in their youth. 40. Samuel Black b August Co., VA 1798, son of Samuel descended from Scotch ancestry. Fought as soldier in Rev. War. Moved to Christian Co., KY when Samuel1 was 12. In 1825 Samuel he removed to IL with his wife Mildred Gaines and 2 children, locating in Sangamon Co. IL. In 1828 he came to Morgan Co. (History of Morgan Co., IL pg 772)

41. George Black b 1767 was the youngest son whose father born in Scotland and settled in Virginia who served under Lafayette and Wayne. George with his family, removed from VA to KY sometime before the war of 1812. He served in a regiment of mounted rifleman under Gen. Harrison. His son Andrew Black m Margaret Lockridge, lived in Mt. Sterling, KY and went to Greencastle, IN 1850; l3 children of which Robert M. b 1845 d 1899 was the ninth. Robert served in the Civil War with the 78 IN Regiment; m 1873 Mary Hutchings d 1875. In 1889 he m Laura Moore; had 4 children. In 1895 moved to Douglas Co., IL. (Bio of Douglas Co., IL

45. Samuel Wilson Black b 1835 Green Co., OH, son of William Black b VA d 1859 and Elizabeth George b County Kildare, Ireland, d 1885 dau of James and Elizabeth George and came to US in 1800 settling in OH. Paternal grandparents were William Black and Margaret _____ b and died in
Virginia. William, Jr. went to OH in 1820 and lived there until 1838. Samuel Wilson who is the only living child as of this writing m 1862 Catharine Zerlinn Hinman, b NY dau of Eli Hinman and Ann Foote native of Oneida Co., NY. Emigrated in 1846 thru New York, made his way to Philadelphia, Chester Co., PA where he lived 10 years; in 1856 came to Winnebago Co., IL. (Past & Present of Winnebago Co., IL 1905 pg 317).

52. Andrew Black b Mar 1, 1934 in Ireland; emigrated to Vermont in 1852; went to Stephenson Co., IL 1854 m Ellen May in 1858 and had 7 children, 4 living -- Harvey W., Eddie N.; William Irvin and Ettie A., whom they adopted.

53. John H. Black b Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., IN 1842 son of Samuel and Catherine (McGrath) Black. Samuel was b near Belfast in County Down, Ireland; emigrated 1820 with his father John and several brothers: Hugh, a sailor on Lake MI; John who died in Canada; Frank. In 1833 they made
their way westward from Port Delhousie, CAN to Chicago, to St. Joseph, MI and then Mishawake, IN. John, the grandfather d IN 1861. Frank served Mexico War, 1849 went CA remained 5 years returned & married Hannah Buck; then went to gold field of CO; served Civil War; carpenter
& farmer. Samuel, the father mechanic on the Welland canal, 1834 to Chi, went to Mishawake, IN forman of the blast furnaces of a large iron foundry. He d 1849. Chicago children born to Samuel and Catherine: Eliza d in infancy; Ellen widow of Andrew Mullegan of South Bend, IN; John H. m 1863 Elizabeth McDonald dau of Patrick and Bridge McDonald live Decatur, Macon Co., IL; James Joseph d infancy; Belle m John Feiten; Mary, widow of Peter Haubert. who d 1898, m 2nd Minnie J. Schaefer of Geneseo, IL. Frank P.'s children: Ethal M. Grace E. and Ruth F and Lenora Catherine. Subject's second son, William H. b 1866 d infancy; Edward J. b 1868; John S. b 1872 m Mollie Koepples, 2 children: Thompson and Jerome; Louis W. b 1874; Haubert B. b 1882; Mary E. b 1876. 54. John Black b 1833 in Londonderry, Ireland the eldest in a family of 11 children. In 1835 emigrated to Canada leaving, W. Frederick Black, the youngest, with an uncle. W. Frederick emigrated in 1845 at the age of 12; locating at Youngstown, OH where he lived for 5 yrs; then to Lowell, OH and remained 2 years learning a miller's trade. He returned to Ireland for 3 mths and then made his way to Chicago and in 1858 arrived in Sycamore, IL. He m 1859 at Poland, OH to Margaret F. Anderson. In 1863, formed a partnership with his brother, W. C. Black and Ralph
Wyman, a mill which was known as Black Brothers. He bought out his partners and admitted his eldest son, Charles A. and the firm was named Black & Son; sold out in 1892 to A.C. Dunlap. He died 1903. Dau, Mrs. Cora E. Slade lived Rockford, IL; sons, Charles Albert living Oakland,
CA and W. Frederick b 1873 IL m in Beatrice, NB to Miss Pearl M. Cotton dau of J. M. Cotton and Margaret Remington. W.F. and Pearl have 3 children: Margaret E. b 1901; John R b 1903 d 1904; Faye Evalyn, b 1906.  (Past and Present of DeKalb Co., IL 1907).

57. Samuel J. Black b Erie Co., PA 1812 d 1851 and went to IN in 182_ m Mary J. Lewis d 1855. William Black, was the 2nd of 4 children, and b in Morgan Co., IN 1836. In 1848 William went to Iowa with an uncle sojourning in that state 10 yrs and he returned to IN 1859. He served Civil War. M Sarah Steel, whose father was in the Mexican War and died.
