Credentials of S Wheat

The Baptist Church of Christ on Poplar Creek, Limestone County, Alabama known by the name Poplar Creek setting in conference the 5^th Lords Day of February 1826.

Took into consideration the gifts & standing of Brother Samuel Wheat as a minister of the gospel and determined to have him ordained for that purpose.

Called on elders Jerimah Burns, John Leigh Townes, Jerimiah Tucker & John H Thompson to compose a presbytery and appointed the Saturday before the 1^st Lords day in March for that purpose.

The Church met according to appointment and the Chosen Brethren called on not appearing agreed to postpone it until the next day, and Elder J Tucker came forward and the Church agreed to call on Elder John Farer to assist Brother Tucker in ordaining of the Church the 1^st Lords Day in March 1826.
