brother Samuel D Wheat. The church hearing set S. D. Wheat before
us and upon due examination finding him to be sound in the faith of Christ we
did set him apart to all the work of a gospel minister by lain on of hands and
prayers given under our hands this second day of March in the year of our lord

Credentials of S Wheat
The Baptist Church of Christ on Poplar Creek, Limestone County, Alabama
known by the name Poplar Creek setting in conference the 5th
Lords Day of February 1826.
Took into consideration the gifts & standing of Brother Samuel Wheat
as a minister of the gospel and determined to have him ordained for that
purpose.
Called on elders Jerimah Burns, John Leigh Townes, Jerimiah Tucker &
John H Thompson to compose a presbytery and appointed the Saturday before
the 1st Lords day in March for that purpose.
The Church met according to appointment and the Chosen Brethren called on not
appearing agreed to postpone it until the next day, and Elder J Tucker
came forward and the Church agreed to call on Elder John Farer to assist
Brother Tucker in ordaining of the Church the 1st Lords Day in
March 1826.
