Saturday before the third Sabbath in June 1840
The church met and after prayer proceeded to business
1st invited visiting brethren to seats with us
2nd opened a door to receive members and received sister Elizabeth
Marshal by letter
3rd Called for the report of the committee which was appointed at
last meeting to visit and converse with brother Marshal and presented on
the subject of appointing a clerk who reports that brother Marshal said
he was still willing to serve this church whenever he could but as he lives at a
considerable distance and could not attend regularly he would not be hurt for
the church to elect another. Brother Marshal being present states the
same to the church.
And the report was received and the committee was charged.
4th Request to some of the brethren Brother Marshal states
his reasons for his long absence which was declared to be satisfactory.
5th the church proceeded to elect a clerk and chose brother Beal
Gaither to that office.
6th agreed that our next meeting be the fourth Sabbath and
Saturday before July 1840.

The United Baptist Church of Christ Crooked Creek met at the meeting
house
And after worship proceeded to business
1st Appointed brother E. C. Simmons Moderator
2nd Invited brethren of visiting churches to seats with us.
3rd Opened the door for the reception of members
4th references called for but none
5th ordered by the church that our September meeting commence on
Friday before the third Sunday in said month and continue from day to day as
long as thought proper
