Frederick James Shirley b: 30 Jan 1876 Aston & Erdington, Birmingham, England d: 22 Apr 1939 Port Arthur, ON
- 12 years in Royal Field Artillery (British) as a driver (rode the horse that pulled the canon) in India and Ireland
- 1912 - immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewn
- 1915 - joined 46th Battalion Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force (WWI)
- his obit says he was in the Boer War - have not found any proof of this
- custodian at the Armoury on Park St.

Mary Jane Shirley (Armstrong) b: 1 June 1881 Smethwick, Staffordshire, England (later a suburb of Birmingham) d: 26 Jun 1947 Port Arthur, ON
- Frederick & Mary Jane Shirley - Riverside Cemetery - headstone placed through Last Post - after it was placed we found his discharge papers which stated he was a Cpl. and not a Pte.
