Fort William Daily Times Journal
Saturday December 9, 1933

In the grave cut by himself out of solid rock on the site of his camp, about one mile inland from Dinorwic, Swan Swanson, pioneer railroad contractor, of Dryden, Ontario, was laid to rest yesterday morning. The grave is high up on a hill from which a general view of the whole countryside may be seen. The funeral was held from the family residence in Dryden under the auspices of Golden Star Lodge A.F. and A.M. A short Masonic service was held at the house, following which the cortege proceeded to Dinorwic by automobile. Here sleighs were used to convey the casket and mourners about a mile inland to the graveside. Chas. Coombs conducted the service at the graveside. The pallbearers were: R. Sweeney, H. Wilde, A. Gould, C. Sels, J. Gordon and D. Reid.
