Henry A. Bryan was born in England, educated in Ontario and was very active in the US Labor Movement. He came to Dorion in 1901, being very active in labor circles and organizing some of the first labor unions here. He died in 1947, his wife predeceased hin in 1906.
Elizabeth JENKIN immigrated to Canada on the steamship "Lake Erie" arriving at the Montreal Quebec Ports on July 24, 1908 with her husband Robert Walton Gilbert.Elizabeth first married George Gamble (my relation) and when he died she remarried to Robert Gilbert. Elizabeth died of cancer within the first year of her arrival in Canada. Buried at the Dorion Cemetery on May 1, 1909. The burial records were all burnt however, she is buried somewhere in the "old" section of the Dorion Cemetery. At the time of her burial her name was Elizabeth Sarah Gilbert. Elizabeth's son created and donated land for the Dorion Cemetery (my G, G, Grandpa) Walter Gamble because he knew his mother was arriving and she had cancer. He prepared this resting place for the future people of Dorion. The story can be found in the roots and branches book of Dorion. On-Line copy can be found here - Our Roots - with much history of the Dorion Cemetery. By Laura Gervais
