Gilson Clapp Land Deal ~ According to the Mackenzie Manuscripts ~ Joseph Haight was born in Flushing, removed to Greenwich probably with his brother James and his widowed mother. On March 6 1732 he bought land there from Gilson Clapp and May 29 1733 he sold land, probably the same, to Charity Haight, his mother or sister. If the latter was still unmarried. He married in March or April 1734 Sophia or Zerviah (daughter of Joseph) Sutton and settled on a 235 acre leasehold in the north eastern corner of Mount Pleasant, just north of the land of Johathan Baker. According to descendants he had a second wife Anna who was the mother of some of his children. He married lastly Sarah Daughter of John Coles and widdow of Alexander Youngs.

There is also a George Gilson Klapp of Philadelphia who leased a Louisiana Plantation in 1865-1866 with James Waters.
