Gaddis FamilyGADDIS FAMILY RESEARCHMy sister and I have been researching this Gaddis family since 1980 and still have very little information on our Gaddis family, except for recent history obtained from our Mother, Julia Marie (GADDIS) LYON, her sisters, Nora (Gaddis) NIX, Bettie Lucille (GADDIS) GREEN, and our grandmother, Bettie Lee (SHEPPARD) GADDIS. Since Granddad died in 1962, we did not have the opportunity to discuss his family background with him. I do remember as a child asking about his dad and was told "we don't ask questions like that", so never brought the subject up again to him, and in time, simply got busy growing up. The information shared here is what we have found on our GADDIS family. We have recently made connections with the WHALIN and RAPER families and hope to compare notes with them soon. If you have information you can share with us, or would like to be added as a link, please feel free to contact me. Proper credit will be freely and gladly given to everyone who shares their gedfiles or other materials. Connecting surnames: Barnes, Chapman, Whalin, Raper, Nix, Green, Lyon, Ray, Boatwright, Rogers, Potts, Teel, among others. Our early Gaddis history begins in Fannin County, Texas in 1880 when Allen C. Gaddis married Alice Rogers Whalin. Alice, her son, William, and two daughters are found in 1900 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, which later became Tishomingo, Johnston County, Oklahoma. William Gaddis and his wife, Bettie Lee Sheppard Barnes, moved their family to Texas in 1928. This section is in early development, much is to be added, so please visit often, being sure to "refresh" or "reload" on each visit to see the latest additions or changes. |
