RIGHTS OF INHABITANTS OF AUTREY

The Autrey's inhabitants must supply one person of every family for the grape harvest of the lord and his lady, but to be fined three sous (a money). Every chamberlain or roomer must give for the house, six bushels of oat.

Followed a succession of duties of the inhabitants. Among them: The inhabitants must give every Christmas Eve, a cartload of wood (a cartload for ten inhabitants); the Lords delivered Justice to the inhabitants of Autrey.

The Bouhans' inhabitants must pay on May 23, three francs to be allowed to go to the Castle of Autrey. The Mantoche's ones must pay to the Lady of Autrey and to the Captain five pounds to have their refuge in the castle. The Maison du Bois' inhabitants must give six bushels of corn on November 11th to go to the castle. The Lord delivers Justice to collonges on October 9th and the Abbess must pay the Lord and the Justice Officer and besides the meals. The inhabitant of the barony and all the ones living in the castle must be present at the raising of the billet and when there is an execution and supply men for the war, come with him in moment of danger, ransom him if he should be prisoner, give a dowry when one of his daughters is married.

The localities which must defend the castle are the ones of Autrey, Bouhans, Feurg, Arc in front of Gray, Broye les Loups, Louilley, Fontenelle, Orville, Berthaut's Street at Fontaine Francaise, Auvet, Vars, La Chapelle les Chargey, Verfontaine, Hest, Attricourt, Lissey.
