Lords of AutreyHistory of D'Autrey, P.D. Mouton, 1868. Translated by Jean Louis Guichard, Autrey les Gray, France. (Please remember English is not Mr. Guichard's first language and he is translating as he learns English). LORDS OF AUTREY WHO GO ON CRUSADES The crusade wars, undertaken for the rescue of the Holy Land against the Mahometant's yoke. In the same time, they put an end to the war between the lords of France and prevented the weakening of the empire. There were several crusades the 1st in 1095, preached by Pierre L'Hermite of Amiens, the 2nd, in 1147 by Saint Bernard, the 3rd in 1190, the 4th in 1196. The history did not say if Geoffroy of Beaumont, Foulques' son, who reigned during the first crusade went to it, but it tell us that Hugues of Beaumont was one of the second crusade and went to the Holy Land with Louis le Jeune. Hugues, Ist of Vergy was one of the third crusades in June 1190 under Philippe Auguste, against Saladin, Sultain of Egypt and Syria, who had conquered nearly the whole Palestine. He came back with the King after the siege of Sant Jean d' Ace (Akko). |
