Absalom and Elizabeth Autrey and Their Descendants, With a Section on Thomas Norris

Since beginning my research on my husband’s huge Autrey family, I have had one single goal:  to locate and connect the various branches of the descendants of the Absalom and Elizabeth (Norris) Autrey family and have a web site to share this information.  A web ring has been created for anyone of this branch of the family to join so we can easily find each other’s web sites.  You are cordially invited to visit the Web Rings page and join any of the rings.

After several years of dedicated work, Jeanne McDuff Murphy published a book on this branch of the Autrey family, “Absalom and Elizabeth Autrey and Their Descendants, With a Section on Thomas Norris”.  I was fortunate to be including in this project.  I have attempted to make this book available to any researcher who is interested in having a printed copy.  I have also placed the introduction of each chapter on-line for your convenience.  Each chapter has a Reference/Source and I have also included this with each chapter.  There is also a Surname Index for the book, although I did not include given names.  There are over 1,000 different surnames included in this book, some have just one given name while other surnames have many entries. There are 48 pages of documents, all of which are included in other parts of this site.

Today, Absalom and Elizabeth's home, located in Dubach, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, has been completely restored to it's original architectural design. Their house is included in the Louisiana Registry of Historical Places as a reminder of the early pioneer dog-trot log home. It has been turned into a museum for all generations of Absalom and Elizabeth's descendants to visit and enjoy. The Autrey Family Cemetery is located behind the home place. A virtual tour of the Autrey House Museum is also on this site.
