Absalom and Elizabeth Autrey and Their Descendants, With a Section on Thomas Norris

CHAPTER XI

William Jackson and Celia (Autrey Field)

Celia J. Autrey, ninth child of Absalom and Elizabeth (Norris) Autrey, was born 31 March 1838 in Perry County, Alabama.  She married William Jackson Field about 1859 in Louisiana.  He had been the second husband of her sister, Harriet Autrey Wiley. William Field was born 1 October 1828 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, the son of Lewis and Mary (Duty) Field).

William Jackson Field enlisted in the Confederate Army 33 August 1863 at Camp Moore, Louisiana.  He served as a Private in Company B, 12th Louisiana Infantry.  After a year of service, he was detailed to work in a blacksmith shop.

He owned and farmed 640 acres in Bienville parish, Louisiana and 800 acres in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana.

They both died in Claiborne Parish.  William J. died 3 March 1906 from the  infection of an abscessed tooth.  Celia (Autrey) Field died in 1808.   They were both buried in the Arcadia Cemetery at Arcadia, Louisiana.

They had six children:  William Lewis, Martha Idella, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Bettie.
