James M. Malone Family
This is our 1999 family portrait.
Standing are Melissa and Jimmy, and seated are Kay and Jim.
Melissa has completed her Freshman year at The College of Wooster and was active in the theater program.
Jimmy is in his final year as a Buckingham
Scholar (look for his name!) at The
University of Akron
and is a co-op employee at Aircraft
Braking Systems.
He is studying mechanical engineering and plans to work in the aerospace
industry.
He is a member of the Medina Community Band, treasurer of the Medina
County Tuba Christmas, and
he will be in the University of Akron Marching Band this fall.
During the summer of 2000, Jimmy traveled to southern Asia where he
taught English
to college students, performed for elemetary and high school students
and performed service projects at some local parks.
Kay left her career as a medical technologist in 1981 to be a full-time
mom
and she seems to work more hours as the kids get older, if that is
possible!
Recently she returned to full-time work in microbiology at the same
hospital and department that she left in 1981.
We are active at our church,
The
Chapel.
Kay loves to do needlework and has won many awards and honors at the
Medina County Fair, and Stan Hywet Needlework Show.
She is a member of the Embroiderer's
Guild of America and has held most offices in the local guild.
Jim has worked at Children's
Hospital in Akron, Ohio since
1973.
He is the supervisor of the Cytogenetics Laboratory. Cytogenetics
is the study of chromosomes.
Kay and Jim met at Children's Hospital and were married in 1975.
They moved to Wadsworth, Ohio in 1977.
Jim grew up in Michigan, where his parents moved during WWII, but their roots were in Tennessee. I believe the first of my Malones entered the United States in Balitimore, Maryland in the early 1800's. The first family I have records of is that of Tom and Julia Malone. I know very little about them but I believe that Tom died in Nashville, Tennessee. My paternal grandmother's family, the Caughron's, settled in the early 1800's near Columbia, Tennessee, in Maury County.Last, but not least, this is our cat, Princess, who watches over our family.
