Eliphalet Graves was born ca 1792 at New York. Eliphalet married Hannah Carpenter. Hannah Carpenter was born September 6, 1796 in New York. She died April 19, 1863 and is buried in the Keith Cemetery, Marion township, Jennings County, Indiana.

Buried: New Bern, North Carolina
Married: Frances Derringer (Dearinger - Daringer) on Oct 4, 1850, in Jennings County. She was born ca 1830 in Indiana and died 27 Jun 1871 in Jennings County. Her parents were John Dearinger and her mother was Elizabeth Lash.
Military: Enrolled in 120th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company K; enrolled on 25 Dec 1863 at Columbus, Indiana to serve three years. And was mustered in as a Private 13 Jun 1864 at Indianapolis, Indiana. He died 21 Mar 1865 in Foster General Hospital at New Bern, North Carolina from inflammation of the lungs.
He is buried in the New Bern National Cemetery (Sec 17 Grave 3037) New Bern, North Carolina.
Children: Five
Sephrony J, born 17 Aug 1851 in Indiana. She died 5 Sep 1851 and is buried in the Keith Cemetery, Marion township, Jennings County, Indiana.
Eliphalet (Elisha) born 9 Mar 1853 Indiana. I have found nothing more about him. Hester (Hettie) Adaline, born Sept. 6, 1856 in Indiana. She married Achilles V. Sullivan. Their daughter was Hazel. Hetties first husband was Esquire (Squire) Campbell.
They had four children. Hettie died 21 Jan 1936 in Indianapolis. She is buried in Anderson Cemetery, Indianapolis.
Another child of Stephen and Frances was Melinda born 9 Feb 1860 Indiana. Know nothing more of her. Their last child was Ruth born 11 May 1863. She married C. Melville Uphold 22 Feb 1882 and died in Peoria, Illinois about 1918. Hester and Ruth remained close through out their life.
