James Parks then settled about 2 and 1/2 miles of Newton.

The bulk of this information is from Tony & Margo at ashdon@ix.netcom.com. Margo Doughty-Ashdon is the 2nd great grand niece of this Jane Buchanan. Words can not express my gratitude at their sharing this information. 

In 1999 I began corresponding with several people descended from James Parks and Jane Buchanan of Augusta County, Virginia. Interestingly each knew of one of the children of this couple from whom they were descended, but didn't know the names of any of the children. One knew though that there were nine chldren. We assumed we were related as each of us were descended from a James Parks and Jane Buchanan of Augusta County, it was unlikely, though not impossible that there was another couple with the same name.

In April of 2000 a relative sent me a list which she had obtained from Naomi Keith Sexton of all the children of James Parks and Jane Buchanan. Our suspicions were confirmed. The only mystery not cleared up is that of Ginger Taylor who is descended from Margaret Parks who married a James Wright. There is no Margaret listed among the children of James Parks, though there is a Peggy Montgomery Parks who married a ____ Thomas. It is quite likely that this is Ginger's Margaret who remarried. The list confirmed that Vic who is descended from James Buchanan Parks is a relative of mine.

I am descended from James Buchanan Parks' sister, Isabel "Ibby" Parks who married Samuel Adkins Keith. They settled in Jennings County Indiana - Jonathan Loppnow

    I am a descendent of Jane Buchanan and James Parks through     their daughter Isabel Parks. Isabel married Samuel Adkins Keith. Their daughter Harriet Keith married Daniel Lewis.     Eric has done a wonderful job or organizing his data. He has info on the Parks family and the Keith family (that Isabel Parks married into).     Here is a link to his surname page. Eric is descended, as I am through Harriet Keith, daughter of Isabel Parks who married Samuel Adkins Keith. Harriet Keith and Daniel Lewis had a son named Eli Lewis. He migrated from Indiana to Kansas, along with other Lewis and Keith relatives. He settled fist in Waterville, Marshall Co. KS and then moved to Greenleaf, Washington County, Kansas. Eli was married at the time to Judilee Stewart. They had a daughter named Florence. Florence married first Edward Gullion and then Ulysses Grant Stewart. From the first marriage with Edward Gullion Florence had Myrtle Blanche "Mertie" Gullion. She married Perry Green Law. She died in San Diego CA on April 14, 1951. They had Ellis Saw Bud Law who was Eric's grandfather. He married ________. He died in 1947 and his widow remarried to a _______ Jacobsen who adopted Eric's Father.

This George (referring to Ohio bio book http://www.tdn-net.com/genealogy/stories/biograph/biog-ae/2009.htm was the son of James Patton Buchanan and Isabel Hall. James Patton was the son of Col. John Buchanan and Margaret "Peggy" Patton (doughtier of Col. James Patton). This Col. John Buchanan was the son of James Buchanan and Jane Sayers. That Archibald was born before James Patton Buchanan or Isabel Hall. So, the article of 1900 sort of leads you to believe that James Buchanan (& Isabel Hall) was the James Buchanan that was one of the three brothers that came to PA. Not so. It is further misleading because of the Archibald Buchanan of VA was of the ancient lines and there is no known connection between this Archibald and James Buchanan & Isabel Hall.".
