My niece's Mason ancestors came from London and arrived in South Australia aboard the ship Duke of Bedford on 5 December 1848.

George married Anna Dickenson in England at some time before 1837. Anna was born in about 1802 in London and died at Forest Range, SA on 9 July 1877. They had at least seven children, but I don't know a lot about their descendants.

Their children were:-

James married Mary Elizabeth Mabbett, daughter of William Mabbett and Nancy Watts in 1861 at Balhannah. They had twelve children.

Alfred married Honor Farnham, daughter of Abel Farnham and Martha Frances Ryall, at Fox Creek near the town of Lobethal in 1883.  They also had 12 children:

Arthur married twice. His first wife was Frances Eliza Edwards, daughter of Frederick Daniel Edwards and Frances Anne East of Forest Range, whom he married at Woodside in 1909. Arthur and Frances had two children. Sadly, Frances died on 24 April 1916 at Forest Range, leaving Arthur with two small children to raise on his own. In 1919 Arthur married Elizabeth Ann Rutt, daughter of William Thomas Rutt and Edith Rann of Basket Range. Arthur and Elizabeth had four children.

Mabel married Stephen Walker in 1929. He was 37 and she was 43. There were no children from this marriage. Mabel died in 1945 in Adelaide and her husband in 1955 at Sandergrove, SA.

Eva married William James Joyce, son of William Joyce and Elizabeth Fowler of Chain of Ponds in 1908.  Evan died in 1952 at Lobethal and her husband in 1958 at Lenswood.

Ada married Norman Westphal, son of Frederick Westphal and Mary Ann Meech of Norwood, at Neudorf in 1911. I don't know anything more about them.

Hilton married Elda Sophie Wittke, daughter of Friedrich Wittke and Caroline Schultz of Lobethal, in 1917 at St James' Church, Blakiston. Hilton died at Lobethal in 1958 and his wife in 1963 at Woodside.

Honor married Ernest William Macklin, son of Arthur Macklin and Louisa Wilden of Rose Vale, in 1918.  Mamburtia, where Honor and Ernest were married is near Lobethal, which in those days was known as Tweedvale, since all towns with Germanic sounding names were Anglicised during World War I. They had at least three children:

Mona married Harold Herbert Holton in Prospect in 1924. He was the son of William Holton and Ellen Kirby of Glen Osmond. I don't know any more about this family.

Leonard married Ruby Gwendoline Jaggard at Gumeracha in 1930. I don't know whether they had any children or not. Leonard died in 1978 and was cremated at Centennial Park Crematorium.

Linda married George Arnold James Williams in Prospect in 1927. They had at least one child:

I don't know whether his first name was Otto or Otho, as it appears on records spelled both ways. Likewise, the name of his wife is either Hannah or Anna Maria Daniel. I will call him Otto and her Hannah in this record. They were married in April 1884 and lived in Adelaide. At some point after 1898 the family seem to have moved or at least spent some time in Warooka, as this is recorded on Hannah's death certificate, which was issued on 15 June 1913 at Parkside, as being her place of residence. Otto died in 1944 at Lobethal where he was living with one of his sons. 

They had seven children:

Joseph married a woman named Eva Alice (surname unknown) who was born in about 1878 and died on 20 October 1953.

Maud married John Edwin Turner on 15 November 1909 at Mt Pleasant. He was born at Blumberg, SA in 1878 and died at Mt Torrens in 1960. I don't know any more about this family.

Oswald married Eva Lydia Muhr Woolidge at Yorketown, SA on 18 September 1915. She was born at Yorketown on 11 December 1891 the daughter of Robert Woolidge and Lucy Ellen Horn. I don't know any more about  this family.

Merrella married Henry Douglas Henderson in 1920 in Adelaide. He was born in 1894 at Tiparra, SA the son of David Henderson and Sarah Jane Hartfield nee Rogers. I don't know any more about this family.

Levi married Helena Emma Pauline Brettig in Adelaide in 1922. She was born at Lobethal in 1898 the daughter of Hermann Reinhold Brettig and Emma Pauline Schulz. I don't know any more about this family. 

Elliot married Clara Mary Murdock in 1928 at Warooka. She was born in 1901 at Warooka, the daughter of Henry David Murdock and Mary Maria Boundy.

Arthur married twice. His first wife was Jane Percy Fox, and his second was Amelia Phoebe Raymond. Arthur and Jane had one child, while there were five children from the second marriage.

Frank married Mary Collins, daughter of James Gillett Collins and Sarah Ann Atwell.  Mary was born in Adelaide in 1869 and died at Woodside in 1955.

They lived in Forest Range for all their married life and had nine children:

Cuthbert married Magda Thelma Biggs.  Thelma was born in 1902 at Forest Range, the daughter of Albert Edward Biggs and Julia Jane Mould.

Roy married Clarice May Fullstone and lived for a time at North Adelaide. Clarice was born in 1902 at Uraidla, the daughter of Albert Fullstone and Edith Alice Stephenson.

Keith married Alvira Victoria Fullstone the daughter of Albert Fullstone and Edith Alice Stephenson of Forest Range (sister of Clarice who married Keith's brother Roy)

Ida married Thomas Hillam Shepherd in 1929 at Adelaide.

Lilly married William Edward Wuttke in 1924. He was born at Harrogate, SA on 20 January 1891, the son of Johann Gottlieb Wuttke and Henrietta Graeber. He died at Woodside in 1953.

Elizabeth  married a David Fox. David was the son of Robert Fox and Ruth Farnham. He was born at Black Log Gully, SA on 31 May 1862 and died at Lobethal in 1942. Elizabeth died in  1927.  There were seven children in this family.

Eliza married James Henry Dearman in 1893. There were seven children from the first marriage.  She married a second time in 1907 to Robert Alfred Collins. There were two more children born in the second marriage.

When she died in 1961, she was buried at Norton Summit Cemetery as Mrs Eliza Collins. There were seven children from her first marriage and two from her second marriage.
