Mr. Ulmont Lee Swinson, 78, formerly of 5451 Wrightsville Avenue, died in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital Sunday morning after a long illness.
Born in Duplin County April 26, 1899, he was the son of the late Theophilus and Nancy Fussell Swinson.
Mr. Swinson was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Esther Inez Swinson, of the home; three daughters: Mrs. Esther Eason of Wilmington, Mrs. Grace Casteen of Magnolia, N.C., Mrs. Nancy Drew of Jacksonville, N.C.; two sons: Johnny Swinson of Wilmington, Julius Swinson of Wallace, N.C.; one brother: Clarence Swinson of Washington D.C.; one sister: Mrs. Maggie Rogers of Rose Hill, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the chapel of the Ward Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Wheeler officiating.
Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Byrd Fussell Cemetery at Rose Hill.

Mr. Leroy Nauard Wood, age 61, of 132 Whitman Ave., died Tuesday morning in the Veteran's Administration in Durham, N.C. following an extended illness.
Mr. Wood was born in Rosehill, N.C., on August 6, 1916 and was the son of the late James Bland and Eva Savage Wood. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1960 and for the next ten (10) years taught in the Accounting Dept. at Miller-Mott Business College in Wilmington. Mr. Wood was a member of the Wrightsboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ina Mae Simmons Wood of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Wood Mirabal of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. Louise Wood Rhodes of Castle Hayne, N.C.; two sons, Robert Lee Wood of New Port, Washington and Jeffrey Bland Wood of New Port, Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Baysden of Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. Doris Blackburn of Harrells, N.C. and Mrs. Francis Merritt of Clinton, N.C.; three brothers, Howard Wood of Wilmington, N.C., Clarence Wood of Harrells, N.C. and Robert Wood of Long Island, N.Y.; six (6) grandchildren and several niece [sic] and nephews.

Mrs. Mae Rivenbark Foster, age 55, of 4029 Princess Place Drive, died early Monday morning in New Hanover Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Foster was born in Wallace on January 16, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Jackson and Ludie Ann Cavanaugh Rivenbark. She was a member of Pearsall Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Marshall C. Foster Sr. of the home; a son, Marshall C. Foster Jr. of the home; two daughters, Miss Rebecca Ann Foster and Miss Lisa Faye Foster both of the home; three brothers, Alton D. Rivenbark and Elwood L. Rivenbark of Hampstead, N.C. and Thurman J. Glendora Lanier and Mrs. Susie Sandlin, both of Chinquapin, and Mrs. Elizabeth Durrows of Marcy, New York; three brothers, Alton Lanier of Chinquapin, Albert Lanier of Wallace and Ervin Lanier of Beulaville; one grandson, Ranny Futrell of Chinquapin; two great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, he was the son of the late John and Mary Batts Lanier. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church.
