Mrs. Aggie Lanier Dail, age 68, wife of R. H. Dail of Chinquapin died Friday night at her home after having been in declining health for the past several years.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the Lanier Chapel Church near Chinquapin by Rev. T. P. Ellis, pastor assisted by Rev. George W. Doherty, pastor of the Chinquapin Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, four sons, William F. and J. Riley Dail of Chinquapin, Martin L. Dail of Wallace and Albert A. Dail of Newport News, Va., two daughters, Mrs. L. G. Huffman of the home and Mrs. H. A. Miller of Newport News, Va."

Funeral services for Walter Lee Taylor, 80, 612 South Second Street, will be held at 4 p. m. Thursday at the Yopp Funeral chapel.
Mr. Taylor died at James Walker Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ina Taylor; four daughters, Mrs. James A. Kelly of Austin, Tex., Mrs. A. W. Norris of Raleigh, Mrs. W. E. Keen Sr. and Mrs. B. G. White of Wilmington; three sons, J. B. and L. L. Taylor Sr., of Jacksonville, Fla., and W. V. Taylor of Columbia; a brother, Luther J. Taylor of Sneads Ferry, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. E. K. Beckett. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Linwood Taylor Jr., Paul Keen, J. B. Taylor Jr., Grier White, Luther Taylor and Chester W. Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be L. I. Beard, Wilbur Brown, Clifford Harris, D. T. Branch, Dr. S. E. Pace, Dr. Mike Hall, O. E. Patrick, H. C. Byrd, J. P. Mewborne and J. M. Shinn."

"Funeral Rites For Cramer [sic] Cavenaugh Held Wednesday

Carmer Cavenaugh, 64, died at the home of his son in Wilmington Tuesday morning. He was a member of Chinquapin Baptist Church. Funeral services were held from Chinquapin Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. Vann Murrell of Chinquapin, assisted by the Rev. E. L. Pate of Wilmington. Burial followed in the Chinquapin Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sudie Cavenaugh of the home; four sons, Elbert, Clifton and Frank of Wilmington, Dewey of the U. S. Navy; three daughters, Mrs. Stacy Lanier of Beulaville, Route 1, Mrs. Harvey Lanier of Jacksonville; Two sisters, Mrs. Hebron Wilkins of Chinquapin, Mrs. Bessie Landen of Wilmington; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild."

Billie Brown, 64, died Wednesday morning at his home Wallace, Rt. 4. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. from the Oak Dale Church with the Rev. K. D. Brown of Burgaw officiating. Burial followed in the Henderson cemetery near the home. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Annie Brown; two sons, William R. and Marvin of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Clara E. Sholar and Mrs. J. E. Henderson, both of Route 4, Wallace, and Mrs. Cora Sanderson of Beulaville; two grandchildren."

Mrs. Viva Lanier, 55, died at James Walker Hospital in Wilmington Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were held from the residence at Chinquapin Friday at 3 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Mrs. Ellis of Wilson. Burial followed in the Jeff Lanier cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Jodie Lanier; four sons, Tom and Tim Aikens of Nofolk, Va., Jessie Franklin of Wallace, J. W. of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Melton Jarman of Richlands, Mrs. Lawrence Williams of Beulaville, Mrs. George Hatcher of Chinquapin and Janie of the home; one brother, Phillip Lanier of Warsaw; a sister, Mrs. M. L. Brady of SanDiego [sic], Calif.; nine grandchildren."

Mrs. M. J. (Judd) Cavanaugh, 71, of Wallace died early Wednesday morning. The former Martha S. Brigg Britt, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. U. P. Britt of Benson and had lived in Wallace for the past 50 years. She was an active member of the Wallace Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Troy Jones of Four Oaks; one son, Roy S. Cavanaugh of Wallace; two brothers, N. L. Britt of Dunn and E. T. Britt of Durham; five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p. m. at the Baptist church, conducted by her pastor, Dr. Eugene Poston. Burial was in Rock Fish Cemetery."

Wallace, Dec. 10--Graveside services for Mrs. Ludie English, 66, will be held at the Cavenaugh Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. English died Thursday afternoon at her home near here.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elbert Outlaw of Wallace; five sons, Horace of Atlanta, Edwin of Sneads Ferry, J. C., Earl and Billy of Wallace; three brothers, W. G., A. J., and Carson Rouse, all of Rose Hill; a sister, Mrs. Florence Carter of Wallace; and seven grandchildren.
The rites will be conducted by the Revs. C. E. Vale and Vance Rich."

Mrs. Walter E. (Mary T.) Keen, 47, of 605 Queen Street, died in James Walker Memorial Hospital last night at 11:15 o'clock.
Surviving are her husband; a son, W. Earl Keen Jr., of Wilmington; her mother, Mrs. W. A. Taylor of Wilmington; three sisters, Mrs. James A. Kelly of Austin, Tex., Mrs. A. W. Norris of Raleigh and Mrs. B. G. White of Wilmington; three brothers, J. B. Taylor of Savannah, Ga., L. L. Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., and W. V. Taylor of Columbia, S. C.; and a granddaughter, Martha Louise Keen of Wilmington.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Yopp Funeral Home tomorrow at 4 p.m. by the Rev. B. D. Critcher, assisted by the Rev. Charles Bernhardt. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery."

Rovene Quinn Cavenaugh

"Mrs. Cavenaugh Dies; Husband Is Stricken Also

Mrs. Rovene Quinn Cavenaugh, wife of A. L. Cavenaugh of Warsaw, died early Monday morning in the Hospital at Virginia Beach after suffering a heart attack a few hours earlier.
She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Owen Quinn of Beulaville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the Warsaw Presbyterian Church by Rev. Norman Flowers. Burial was in Pinecrest Cemetery there.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Kitchin of Virginia Beach, two grandchildren. Three sisters Mrs. J. S. Miller of New Bern, Mrs. J. O. Miller of Kinston, and Mrs. Lula Quinn Parker of Beulaville and a number of neices [sic] and nephews.
Returning home from Virginia Beach Mr. Cavenaugh suffered a coronary heart attack in Murphreesboro [sic]. No doctor was in town. A Baptist preacher rushed him to Ahoskie, the nearest hospital, where he is now. Dr. Ewers, of Warsaw, went to see him Wednesday afternoon. He will stay in the Ahoskie hospital a week or ten days, Dr. Ewers said, and then will be brought to Kenansville or carried to the hospital at Virginia Beach. Dr. Ewers said his condition seemed fairly good. Mr. Cavenaugh is in his early sixties."

Aubrey Liston Cavenaugh

"Funeral Services For Prominent Warsaw Insurance Man Held Monday

Funeral services for Aubrey L. Cavenaugh, prominent Warsaw insurance man, were held from the Warsaw Presbyterian Church Monday at 11 o'clock.
Officiating at the services were Rev. Norman Flowers, his pastor, the Rev. Edmond Berkely, rector of the Episcopal Church at Virginia Beach and Dr. Sylvester Green of Wake Forest College. Burial followed in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Mr. Cavenaugh, 62, had been in the insurance business for about 30 years. Earlier, he taught school and at one time was connected with the Planters Bank and Trust Company in Rocky Mount and in Beulaville. He was a graduate of Davidson College and a World War I veteran. He had been an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Warsaw for many years, last summer served as Moderator of Wilmington Presbytery. He was on the Board of Conservation and Development during Governor Kerr Scott's administration and has always taken an active interest in the Welfare and betterment of Duplin County.
Death came Saturday in a Clinton hospital. He was first stricken while returning from Virginia Beach following the death of his wife on Sunday, May 1. After several days in an Ahoskie hospital he was brought to Clinton where he appeared to be recovering until Tuesday of last week. Death overcame him Saturday, less than three weeks following that of his wife, Mrs. Rovene Quinn Cavenaugh.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James L. Kitchin of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Herbert R. Cavenaugh of Wilmington and James A. Cavenaugh of Warsaw; two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Morrison of Wallace and Mrs. C. H. Womack of Wilson, and two grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Max Morrison and A. J. Cavenaugh of Wallace, Forrest Mallard of Burgaw, Charlie Gilliam of Virginia Beach and Herbert Best, Lawton Albertson, Paul Potter and Bill Sheffield, all of Warsaw. Honorary pallbearers were the elders of the Warsaw Presbyterian church."

Vann Norris

Vann Norris, age 77, of Bowden died early Thursday morning in Duplin Memorial Hospital after several months of declining health.
Funeral services were conducted from Northeast Free Will Baptist Church near Wallace at 3:00 o'clock Friday afternoon by Rev. Vance Rich, pastor, assisted by Rev. H. N. Baker of the Warsaw Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Cavenaugh Family Cemetery. The body was carried to the church one hour prior to funeral service.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. H. B. Carter, of Washington, D. C., Mrs. W. C. English and Mrs. R. E. Henderson, both of Bowden and Mrs. Ross Teachey of Rose Hill; four foster children, Willie Norris and Horace Norris of Wilmington, Kenneth Norris of Wallace and Jack Norris of Anderson, Ala.; one brother, Ira Norris of Wallace; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren."

Richard (Dick( [sic] Futrell, aged 65, died at his home on Beulaville, Rt. 1, Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held from the Sharon Baptist Church in Chinquapin at three o'clock Monday afternoon. Officiating was the Rev. K. D. Brown of Burgaw. He was assisted by the Rev. Johnnie Durham of Wallace. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The body was taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtie Batts; six daughters, Mrs. Frank Wood of Rose Hill, Mrs. Dick Scheel of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Jay Boykin of Champaign, Ill., Mrs. Walter Gerhardestin of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Ben Hall of Ahoski [sic], Mrs. Mary Lillie Albertson of Beulaville; three sons, Allen of Magnolia, Willie and Ray Futrell, both of Beulaville; three brothers, Fennell, of Wilmington, Jim and Rudolph Futrell of Chinquapin; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Brinkly and Mrs. Margie Parker, both of Chinquapin; 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren."

Mrs. Della Batts, 75, widow of the late Jesse Batts, died at her home near Chinquapin, Saturday.
Funeral services were held from the home Sunday at 3 p. m. The Rev. Reid Ervin of Chinquapin, pastor of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, officiated. Interment followed in the family cemetery near the home.
She is survived by two sons, Willie Batts of the home; and Alonza Batts of Beulaville; 5 daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Andrews of Chinquapin, Mrs. Richard Pickett, Mrs. Ethro Miller of Baulaville [sic], Mrs. Thedford Harrell of Rose Hill, Mrs. Amos Lanier of Burgaw; one sister, Mrs. Ludie Lanier of Chinquapin; 29 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Batts was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church."

Macon Cavanaugh, prominent retired Rose Hill businessman, died at his home there Friday night at the age of 76.
Funeral services were held at the Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church at 3:30 Sunday p.m. The Rev. A. H. Carter, assisted by the Rev. Austin Wheeler and Rev. Vance Rich of Garland, officiated. Burial was held in the Cavanaugh Cemetery in North East Township.
He is survived by his widow; five daughters, Mrs. Grace Fussell, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. F. A. Anastasio of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Nick Pagano, Long Island, N. Y., Mrs. J. C. Christian, Jr., Wilmington, and Mrs. C. J. Holmes of Angolia, Ind.; four sons, M. Q. Cavanaugh, Wilmington, E. D. of Baltimore, A. Graveside services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Chinquapin Baptist Church Cemetery by the Revs. James Phipps and Johnnie Durham."

Funeral services were conducted at 4 p. m. today at the Magnolia Baptist Church by the Rev. J. D. Everett. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery."

Rose Hill -- William Joseph Rouse, 69, of the Charity Community died in the Sampson Memorial Hospital in Clinton Wednesday afternoon after a serious illness of three weeks.
Funeral services were held from the Charity Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. E. C. Vale, pastor, assisted by the Rev. W. B. Cotton of Snow Hill, a former pastor. Burial was in the Rockfish Cemetery in Wallace.
He is survived by three sons, David, Chester and Hugh Rouse, all of Rose Hill; two brothers, Carson and Alfred J. Rouse, Rose Hill, one sister, Mrs. Florence Carter of Wallace, and three grandchildren."

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday from the Northeast Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Vance Rich, pastor, and the Rev. A. H. Carter of Wallace, a former pastor. Interment was in the Jacob Cavenaugh Cemetery near the home.
He is survived by his wife, the former Beulah Cavenaugh of Wallace; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Casteen of Wilmington and Mrs. A. A. Paul of Wallace; two sons, Marion of Wilmington and Johnnie of Wallace; and 12 grandchildren."

"Leslie Lanier, Chinquapin, Dies

Chinquapin, Oct. 21 - Leslie William Lanier, 46, died in his home here this morning after a long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the home by the Rev. K. D. Brown of Burgaw and the Rev. Johnnie Durham of Wallace. Burial will be in the Lanier family cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Sylvia, Mae and Linda, all of the home; his father, Hosea Bryant Lanier of Chinquapin; four brothers, Lonnie of Warsaw, Carl of Wallace, James of Gastonia, and Clayton of Honolulu; and two sisters, Mrs. Ed Raynor of Wallace and Mrs. Otis Wells of Watha."

Queen Victoria Cavenaugh Potter

"Mrs. Queen C. Potter

Funeral services for Mrs. Queen Cavenaugh Potter were to be held [...] from the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. O. Smith of Adamsville with whom she made her home. Burial was to be in Wayne Memorial Park. She died Saturday at 9:55 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Pink Hill, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Betty Howard Cavenaugh and wife of the late John Potter. She was a member of Calvary Baptist church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. J. W. Pascall of Newport News, Va., Mrs. L. M. Huffman of Rocky Mount, Mrs. Wilbert Perry of LaGrange, Mrs. Frank Miller of Raleigh and Mrs. Smith; two sons, Herman of LaGrange and John Horace Potter of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Aldridge of LaGrange; three brothers, Woodley of Wilmington, Frank of Jacksonville and John of Wallace."
