Armstrong Moore was born at Muddy Creek, Greene Co, PA, on June 28, 1818. He married Anna Hamilton before 1840. He moved circa 1843 to Indianapolis, IN. He enlisted in the 6th Battery of the Wisconsin Light Artillery on November 5, 1861. At this time, he was living in Lone Rock, WI. He served for 3 years, and served in the battles at Island Number 10, Corinth, Port Gibson, Raymond, Jackson, Champion Hill, Vicksburg and Mission Ridge. He was mustered out on October 10, 1864. After the war, he returned to Sauk County, WI. He was a founding trustee of Marble Ridge Cemetery Association on June 24, 1868 at Bear Creek, Sauk Co, WI. In about 1871, he moved to Center Township, Dubuque County, IA. In April 1876, he applied for a Civil War pension. He was registered to vote on October 8, 1878 at Spring Green, Sauk Co, WI. He married Elizabeth Harris at Clayton, Crawford Co, WI, on February 23, 1879. The wedding was a religious ceremony conducted by A. Montgomery, who lived in Yankeetown, Crawford Co. The witnesses were Noe Sith and Crus Harris. Armstrong was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census at Clayton, Crawford Co, WI. Armstrong was a broom maker and Cyrus was farming. Armstrong was crippled or disabled. Arthur was in school. He married Sydney Ann Hudson in April, 1886. Armstrong died on March 23, 1899 at Sauk Co, WI, at age 80. His body was interred after March 23, 1899 at Chetek, Barron Co, WI, at Twin Lakes Cemetery. Buried next to Welcome Phetteplace. |
