Paul Lengel was born circa 1709 at Switzerland or Germany. He was also known as Paulus Lingle. He married Catherine Unknown before 1737. He and Catherine immigrated on September 26, 1737 to Philadelphia, PA. He was listed as Paulus Lingel on the ship's passenger log. He received a warrent for land on June 28, 1738; Ida Vincent says 150 acres in Lancaster, PA, but Russell Lengel says 184 acres in Berks Co. In 1739, he was taxed 2 pounds as a resident of Heidelberg Township, Berks Co, PA. He was granted land on October 8, 1772; Ida Vincent says 191 acres on October 8 (no location stated), while Russell Lengel says 198 acres in Tulpehocken Township on October 28. He paid a Revolutionary War tax of 3 pounds. He was naturalized on April 12, 1782 at Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Christ's Little Tulpehocken Lutheran Church, in Bernville, PA, before 1786. He wrote a will on April 1, 1786 at Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co, PA; it is recorded in Will Book Vol A. He and Catherine lived in April, 1786 at Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co, PA. He died on June 1, 1786 at Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co, PA. His will was proved on June 6, 1786 at Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co, PA. His estate was inventoried on June 12, 1786 at Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co, PA. His estate was inventoried after the death of his wife on July 26, 1796 at Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co, PA. The final accounting of his estate was submitted by his executors on March 22, 1797 at Reading, PA. |
