The family moved in 1842 to Pike Co, MO. They moved in 1843 back to VA. Taylor was listed as a household member living with Harriett Basye on the 1850 Census in Culpeper Co, VA. He was ordained as a Methodist minister. He was school teacher. He moved in 1854 to Lincoln Co, MO. He was employed as a school teacher after 1854 in Elsberry, Lincoln co, MO. He married Elizabeth Jerusha Smith, daughter of James Smith and Elizabeth Ellis, on February 18, 1855 in Lincoln Co, MO. He and Levi Shuck owned Shuck and Green, a store that merchandized and handled tobacco in Smith's Mill, Lincoln Co, MO. Taylor was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Calumet Township, Pike Co, MO. T.B. was a farmer, with real estate valued at $2,000? and personal property worth $400.
