John Bartlett "Bart" DeWitt was born in DuBois, Pawnee Co, NE, on April 24, 1891. He married Alice Viola Cook. He resided in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, in December, 1916. John served as a Private in Co E, 380 Infantry, World War I. John was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in 53 Jaymore St, Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS. "Barton" was a laborer working for a hauling company; they were renting a house. He resided in Westmoreland, KS, in June, 1944. John died on August 4, 1959 in home, Wamego, Potawatomie Co, KS, at age 68. An obituary was published on August 6, 1959 in the Chapman Advertiser in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS. His funeral was held in Stewart Memorial Chapel, Wamego, Potawatomie Co, KS, on August 7, 1959. His body was interred circa August 7, 1959 in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, in Indian Hill Cemetery. Graveside services by the Harold Johnson post of the American Legion. An obituary was published on August 13, 1959 in the Wamego Times in Wamego, Potawatomie Co, KS. |
