Clarence Marion DeWitt was born in DuBois, Pawnee Co, NE, on March 13, 1885. He moved in 1913 to Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS. He married Daisy Leona Hunsinger in Hutchinson, KS, on September 26, 1916. He resided in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, in December, 1916. Clarence was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in Broadway Ave, Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS. Clarence was a salesman with the [grain] elevator; they rented their house. Clarence was listed as the head of a family on the 1930 Census in Butler Street, Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS. Clarence was a carpenter for a contractor, but was not working at the time of the census. The family owned their home, worth $1,000. Eldon, Albert and Leona were in school. Clarence was a I.O.O.F member. He resided in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, on July 5, 1956, in East Second street. Clarence was ill in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, on July 5, 1956. Clarence died on July 6, 1956 in Dickinson Co Memorial Hospital,
Abilene, Dickinson Co, KS, at age 71. His funeral was held in Methodist
church, Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, on July 9, 1956. Rev. E. N. Judd officiating.
Graveside services conducted by the IOOF. His body was interred on July
9, 1956 in Chapman, Dickinson Co, KS, in Indian Hill Cemetery. An obituary
was published on July 12, 1956 in the Chapman Advertiser in Chapman, Dickinson
