Peleg Bowen was born at St. Johnsbury, Caledonia Co, VT, on May 26, 1805. He moved with his family in 1811 to Ashtabula Co, OH. He married Rachel Burnette. Peleg moved circa 1848 to Mercer, PA. Peleg was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census at Pymatuning Township, Mercer Co, PA. Peleg, Joseph, and Jamy were listed as farmers. Peleg's real estate was valued at $2,700. Jamy, Harriet, Byron, Ralph, Olive and Mary attended school within the year. Peleg was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census at Shellrock Township, Butler Co, IA. Peleg was a retired farmer, with $6,000 in real estate and $680 in personal property. Peleg died on April 27, 1879 at IA at age 73. His body was
interred at Shell Rock, Butler Co, IA, at Riverside Cemetery. |
