    Tombstone gives date + father and mother's name
           Lewiston, NC, Bertie County:
    North on 13, turn into town, turn left again, go through

    Observations from Inventory of the Estate
    William was a small cotton planter "1 barrel of cottin seed"; 3 head horses; 61 head cattle + 12 head sold; 68 head geese; 65 head of hogs (sold)

    House contained: 18 chairs and 2 walnut tables; 3 chests 1 case and bottles; 1 buffet and furniture; a parcel of books and desk; 4 beds and steads and furniture; 2 bedsteads; 1 parcel knives and forks.

    A total of 10 slaves which were divided among his sons:

    Debits included: 2 pounds to "Berry and Goodrick Schooling". This must have been for the two younger sons, Whitmell and Blount.
    Not sure Which William Ruffin was a subscriber to this, but the name William Ruffin is listed as one of the purchasers of this Bible Dictionary.
