Eli Ruffin obtained land in Alabama in 1839 in Pike County, Alabama
Eli served as Administrator for Estate of Stephen Ruffin, and Executor for Rachel Ruffin. Additionally he was the Administrator for Shepphard Ruffin in 1841 MS.
Eli Ruffin and John Ruffin purchased at the sale of the esate of Samuel Parnell Jan 5, 1820 Probate records 220.
Eli was purchaser at Sale of Esate of Jno Steele, Sr. Nov 27, 1821 Pro 649.

Pike County Will Book H pg 423, dated 11 March 1853, Eli Ruffin to my daughter Elivira E.B. Ruffin - 80 acres and 73 acres in section 10 Tonwship, plus my personal property.

Pike Co Will Book H pg 425, dated 12 Aug 1853, Lucy A. Ruffin relinquished her dower on land in Section 18 Township, mentioning hse is wife of Eli Ruffin.

Pike Co Will Book I pg 52, dated 11 March 1853. Eli Ruffin for love and affection to his daughter H.H. Mary J. Smith, 87 acres in Section 18 Township, witnessed by Norman Ruffin. [Shepherd Norman Ruffin is Eli's son] [Hesse Hannah Ruffin was Stephen's daughter, so perhaps Mary's aunt? This would be one direction connection of Eli to Stephen.

 Living with James and Hester are E. B. Davenport age 38 and 
Emaline Davenport age 26. I have seen the name Emaline in our 
family file,

Whereas Eli Ruffin hath applied to me for Letters of Administration on all and singulr the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Stephen Ruffin -- late of the District aforesaid, deceased.
These are therefore to cite and admonish all and singular the kindred and creditors of the said deceased, t5o be and appear before me, at our next Ordinary's Court for the said District, to be holden at Darlington Court House on the Friday next after Publication hereof -- to shew cause, if any, why the said administration should not be granted.
Given under my hand and Seal, this 14th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen and in the 43rd year of American Independence.

Pursuant to a warrant from Josiah Courtner commissioner of locations in the District of Darlington dated the 15th of October 1816, I have measured and laid out unto JAMES HOOTEN a Tract of land containing two hundred and seventy (270) acres situated in said District on the North Side of Sparrow Swamp bounded by lines running NE on said HOOTEN SE on the ESTATE OF Thomas HICKSON SW on James Morris NW on JOHN Ruffian and the Estate of STEPHEN RUFFIAN lands and hath such form and marks as the above plat represents.
Surveyed this 4th Day of November Domini 1816

Hooten's wife, is the sister of John KIDD who married Sally Sheppard Ruffin as his second wife.

Mary Ruffin born 1824 in S.C. Married Isaac B. Smith on 4 Apr 1850 in Pike Co, AL. [Jan W. Smart."Index to White Marriages - Brides 1830-1906"]
He was a Grocer in 1860 in Troy, Pike Co, AL.
Shephard Norman was born in 1827 in S.C. He was an attorney between 1850-1860 in Troy, Pike Co. AL. practicing in partnership with James McCaleb Wiley, and B.B. McCraw.
He served in military between 1861 and 1865 in Co. H. 18th Alabama Infantry Reg. Capt Shep Ruffin was promoted to Major and killed in Atlanta, July 22, 1864. He died on 22 Jul 1865 in Battle of Peachtree Creek, Siege of Atlanta.

He married Nancy Catherine Turner Mullins (daughter of Thomas Kenan (Kinion) Mullins and Permelia (Amelia) Howard Brockman on 1 Jan 1856 in Pike Co, AL. (Copied from Family Bible of Thomas K. Mullins) Shep N Ruffin and Nancy C.T. Mullins were married on the 1st day of Jan 1856. (Marriage Book 3 pg 221)
