A retired employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish School
Board and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Tuesday, Nov.
11, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.
She was 67 and a native of Independence. Visiting at
Gloryland Baptist Church, 2575 Michelli Drive, from 5 p.m.
until religious service at 7 p.m. Sunday, conducted by
Pastor Rayford Iglehart. Dismissal service at Roselawn
Memorial Park, 4045 North St., Baton Rouge, at 11 a.m.
Monday, Nov. 17, 2003. Survived by her husband, James L.
Ruffin; four daughters, Dora Ruffin, Gale Perry and Denise
and husband Russell Thomas, all of Baton Rouge, and Doris
Perry of Houston; a son, Robert L. and wife Barbara Perry,
Ellenwood, Ga.; two sisters, Edna M. Williams and Betty J.
Smith, both of Baton Rouge; a brother-in-law, Sim and wife
Deola Labrane of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, D. Coye
Farmer of Baton Rouge, Brandon W. Perry of Washington, D.C.,
Lurtisha Wade, Enika Wade and Sean Perry, all of Baton
Rouge, Sherrod Brown of Hawaii and Djuana Ruffin of Baton
Rouge; two great-grandchildren, Skylah Barton and Asia G.
Perry, both of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her
parents, Charlie and Lucinda Parker; six brothers; two
sisters; and a son, Larry Ruffin. She was a member of the
Gloryland Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir. Carney-Mackey
Funeral Home, 1576 Robin St., in charge of arrangements.

ROSELAND - Bobby Ruffin, 62, Roseland, died Sunday, Aug. 13,
2000, at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite.He is survived by his
wife, Carolyn Ruffin, Roseland; four sons, Melvin Ruffin,
New Orleans, Earl Ruffin, Arcola, Mark Wilson, Amite, and
Michael Wilson, Arcola; two daughters, Stacy Ruffin, Arcola,
and Karen Williams, Roseland; three sisters, Shirley Ruffin,
Chicago, Georgia Ruffin and Ophelia Washington, both of
Roseland; two brothers, Daniel Ruffin, Independence, and
Johnell Ruffin, Chicago; and 11 grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Jessie Ruffin;
and one brother, Sterlen Ruffin.Visitation is Friday from 5
to 9 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite. Alonza
Richardson will conduct the funeral Saturday at 1 p.m. at
Roseland Church of God In Christ, and burial will be in Mt.
Canaan Cemetery.

Brenda Ruffin, 54, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at North
Medical Center, Hammond. She was a native of Hammond. She is
survived by her husband, Jerome Shields; two daughters,
Jeronika and Ashley Shields; a sister, Carrie Johnson; three
brothers, Charles and James L. Johnson and Robert Jones; and
her mother, Myrtis Johnson. All are Hammond residents.
Visitation will be at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond,
Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. The Rev. Darryl Phoenix will
conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. at New Home Ministries,
Hammond. Burial will be in Holly Garden Cemetery, Hammond.

Morning Star Baptist Church, Mandeville. Burial will be in
Wilson Cemetery, Covington.

of Lakeland. Visiting at Hall's Mortuary, Port Allen, from 1
p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15. Religious service at Faith
Christian Assembly Interdenominational Church, 1385 N. 46th
St., at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, conducted Pastor Rubin
Dalton Jr. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived
by her husband, Louis Ruffin Sr.; three sons, Louis Ruffin
Jr., Las Vegas, and Arthur W. Ruffin Sr. and Gregory Ruffin
Sr., both of Baton Rouge; a sister, Laura Thorn,
Ponchatoula; five sisters-in-law, Selma Shields and Hazel
Mae Breaux, both of Erwinville, and Mildred Patty, Ruby Lee
Ruffin and Idela Ruffin, all of Baton Rouge; four brothers-
in-law, William Ruffin, Baton Rouge, Lee Ruffin, Lafayette,
Robert Ruffin, Dallas, and Geusave Ruffin, Rio, Nev.; one of
her best friends, Ella Bogan; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-
grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in
death by her parents, Peter and Rosina Whitfield; two
sisters, Noela Moore and Rosa Mae "Rosemary" Shelton;
brother, Peter Whitfield Jr.; mother-in-law and father-in-
law, five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Richardson Chapel COGIC, Baton Rouge. Burial will be in
Mount Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
