Collin County has a school fund of about $18,000. The public schools have been or are being taught in all but 18 or 20 of the 100 communities with an average of between five and six months. The communities are as follows:

Lone Star is situated in the northwest portion of the county. J. C. SAUNDERS, a young man from Missouri, is the teacher. This is a good community located in the midst of a thickly settled portion of the county. School fund $233.

Richards is a small community situated in the northeast corner of the county. E. S. SONFHARD, teacher. School fund $95.26.

Burgess Community is situated twelve or fourteen miles northeast from the county seat on Sister Grove creek. The teacher, C. C. UPTON, was regarded as competent, but thought to be constitutionally tired, hence did not give satisfaction and played out. School fund $121.24.

Decatur is situated in the southeastern portion of the county. The teacher, A. J. BERRYMAN, a young man of good attainment holding a first grade certificate is giving general satisfaction. School fund $131.23.

Butler is a small district in the northern part of the county. No school. School fund $50.77.

Morris is situated 10 or 12 miles southeast from McKinney and settled by well-to-do farmers; no public school, school fund $216.59.

Cottonwood is situated 9 or 10 miles south of McKinney on Cottonwood creek. The teacher, J. L. COLQUETT, is a young man just entering the profession. School fund $142.80.

Pilgrim is situated in the northeast corner of the county on the waters of Indian creek. Teacher is J. M. SAUNDERS; school fund $15.29.

Barksdale. Miss Kate HUFFMAN, teacher, holds a first-grade certificate, a lady of fine attainments. School fund $135.

St. Paul is situated on 10 or 12 miles southeast from McKinney. The teacher, W. MALCOLMSON, a native of Arabia is a gentleman of large experience and quite successful as an instructor. School fund $225.80.

Hedgecoxe is situated southwest from McKinney. Teacher, W. s. AGNEW, a new man in the county. School fund $212.17.

Illinois situated on the waters of Pilot Grove creek, northeast of McKinney. The teacher, W. C. KERR, is a young man just entering the profession. School fund $299.48.

Allen is situated on the Central railroad 6 miles south of McKinney. The teachers, J. C. JONES and W. W. CHAPMAN are both teachers of long experience and command the patronage of one of the best communities in the county. School fund $320.42.

Union situated in the northwest corner of the county. The teacher W. H. WINTON, is a young man; this is his second year in the district. School fund is $161.24.

McCarmel is situated in the northeast part of the county on Pilot Grove creek. Teacher P. C. HUDSON is a young man of fair attainments holds a first grade certificate. This is his second year in the county. School fund $155.88.

Upper Rowlett is 16 miles west of McKinney; teacher W. H. BUCHANAN holds first grade certificate. School fund $209.45.

McMinn situated in the southwest corner of the county. Teacher, J. C. MOORE, a young man holds first grade certificate. Fund $129.90.

Farmersville 16 miles east from McKinney. The teacher, W. A. EDWARDS has long experience and ranks among the prominent educators in the state. Fund $376.71.

Bethany south from McKinney. Teacher, O. MATTHEWS, a professional teacher of long experience and one who has made his impress upon the young of this community. Fund $169.95.

Milligan east of McKinney. Teacher, W. P. STEWART, of several years experience in the county; well qualified as to literary attainments. Fund $268.40.

White Grove 3 miles south from McKinney; teacher Miss Mary PHILLIPS, a lady of fine attainments and long experience in the county public schools. Fund $108.25.

Blue Ridge 12 or 14 miles northeast of McKinney. The teacher, J. SOLOMAN and BUSTER, are kept busy from early morn to dewy eve. School fund $163.37.

Highland 11 miles north of McKinney. The teacher, S. H. COLE, is a young man of fine literary attainments, just engaging in the profession. Fund $225.75.

Grounds is 14 or 15 miles northeast from McKinney. No school. School fund $63.57.

Denton county line northwest from McKinney. Teacher, Mrs. A. A. BORNE [?], a lady holding a first grade certificate of some experience as a teacher in the county. Fund $168.87.

Melissa Teacher, H. O. RIKE. Fund $111.41.

Stiff 8 miles northeast from McKinney. Teacher. W. N. WILLIS with several years experience in the county. School fund $288.13.

Union Teacher T. W. GRESBAIN [?]. Fund $173.20.

Rock Quarry 2 miles northwest from Farmersville. Teacher G. W. ODOM, first years work as teacher in the county. Fund $339.52.

Prairie Grove No school. Fund $116.50.

Brushy Northeast from Farmersville. Teacher ?. M. STEDHAM. School fund $254.14.

Forest Grove 6 miles southeast from McKinney, Teacher W. H. CHAMBERS, a successful educator, holds first grade certificate. Fund $268.

Walnut Grove 9 or 10 miles northwest from McKinney. Teacher J. T. CHAMBERS, who ranks among the best educators in the county. Holds first grade certificate. Fund $278.71.

Mount Pisgah in the eastern portion of the county. Teacher. R. C. LEWIS. Fund $114.12.

Wilmeth 3 miles north from McKinney . Teacher, J. R. WILMETH, an old teacher in the county. Fund $102.46.

Stony Point 2 miles northeast of McKinney. Teacher C. T. LEWIS, just entering the profession. Fund $168.37.

Liberty Teacher, Miss Bettie HASTON, Fund $64.95.

Chambers 8 or 9 miles northwest from McKinney. Teacher Geo. SAUNDERS, who is well qualified for his profession. Fund $157.

Trinity 6 miles north from McKinney. Teacher W. C. WALKER. Fund $112.58.

Bethel 14 miles west from McKinney. The teacher, Wm. ALLEN, ranks among the best educators in th state. Fund $108.23.

Weston 10 miles northwest from McKinney is one of the best school communities in the county. The teacher, W. S. SAUNDERS, has made a reputation in the last two years at this place as an educator, keeping pace with the age. Fund $298.77.

Bowlby 4 miles west of McKinney. Teacher, D. A. BUCHANNAN, holds first-grade certificate. Fund $190.18.

Farmers in the western part of the county. Teacher Miss M. BASS, a young lady of long experience in the county. Fund _____ [sic].

Liberty north of Farmersville, one of the best communities in the county. Teacher W. H. H. EDMUNSON, a new man in the county. Fund $297.44.

Bethel 4 miles east of Plano, on Rowlett creek. No school at present. Fund $199.18.

Bear Creek northeast of Millwood 3 or 4 miles. Teacher, S. McINTOSH, who has filled the position for some time, holds a first grade certificate, is making teaching his profession. Fund, $308.10.

Rock Rest 5 or 6 miles northeast of McKinney. Teacher, T. M. WILSON, a young man of extended experience and has given general satisfaction where he has taught in the county. Fund $155.88.

Mantua in the northern part of the county. Teacher, M. C. CUNNINGHAM has long experience, holds a first grade certificate. Fund $238.

Fairview in the northern part of the county on the waters of East Fork. Teacher Jo. BRITTON. Fund $112.58.

Melissa 7 miles north of McKinney, on the Central railroad. Teacher, C. N. STIVERS, has extended experience in the profession and holds a first grade certificate. Fund $220.83.

Prairie View in the southern part of the county. Teacher, S. C. WEATHERSBY. Fund $301.51.

Hackberry 5 miles northwest of McKinney. Well-to-do farmers make up this community. Teacher H. C. MACK,who has made the profession his life work, holds a first grade certificate. Fund $190.52.

Worden 4 miles north of Weston. Teacher, Miss Sue COLLINS, a young lady of some experience in the profession. Fund $125.57.

Lone Tree east of Plano 8 or 10 miles. Teacher, W. J. DOWLING. Fund $216.50.

Willow Springs 8 or 9 miles southeast from McKinney. Teacher, J. W. BAKER, a young man who has held his position for 3 or 4 years in succession, holds a first grade certificate. Fund $120.07.

Wines near Plano, teacher J. M. WINES. Fund $160.20.

Plano Academy in southern part of the county on Central railroad. Teacher A. C. BOHANAN has a reputation as an educator second to none in the county, holds a first grade certificate. Fund $290.84.
