Karl Edward Wilcox was born 4-Aug-1928 in Philippi, Barbour County, West Virginia. He was the third son and third child of Howard Judson WILCOX and Ruby Huffman Wilcox. Karl graduated from the Philip Barbour High School and then served in the United States Navy from 30-May-1946 until he was honorably discharged 29-March-1948. While in the navy, and afterward, Karl worked as a baker.

Grace Lee Boggess was born 27-Jun-1928 in Shinnston, Harrison County, WV to John Carney Boggess and Lilian G. Martin Boggess. Her parents were living in Philippi, Barbour County, WV at the time. Grace Lee, as she was called, had a younger sister named Alice Carroll, but no brothers. Grace Lee was baptized 20-Apr-1941 in Philippi, probably at the Philippi Baptist Church. She graduated from Philip Barbour High School in 1946.

Karl met Grace Lee while they were in high school. While Karl served in the Navy, Grace Lee attended West Virginia University and graduated from there in 1950. The couple were married 18-June-1951, in Philippi, WV.

On 8-Sep-1955, their first child, John Howard, was born in Roanoke, Roanoke County, Virginia. They were living there, or near there, at the time. Before John's first birthday, they moved to Struthers, Mahoning County, Ohio. Struthers is a suburb of Youngstown, where Karl managed the Federal Bakery. During the time before and after John?s birth, Grace Lee worked as a school teacher. While living in Struthers, Grace Lee gave birth to a daughter named Carroll Beth in Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Mahoning County, OH. During labor, Grace Lee lapsed in a coma, and died on 2-Oct-1959.  You can read her obituaries here, here, here, and here.

Karl then married Janet Lee McGarry.

Karl died 2-June-1986 in Durham, North Carolina, while he was visiting his two daughters. At the time, he was living in Sandusky, Ohio, but was visiting his daughters in Durham. Since he was a veteran, he was buried in the National Cemetery reserved for veterans located at 501 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. His grave is located in section 16, number 179.
