Funeral services were held Thursday morning at New Engeldreg Abbey Church at Conception for the mother of 12. Mrs. William Steinhauser who died Monday night at her home 6 1/2 miles southeast of Clyde at 10:30 o'clock by Rev Fr Plaicus. Burial in St Columbia cemetary. Pall bearers Leo King, Ray King, James Brady, Clem Meyer, Bill merrigan, John Alien.
Mrs. Steinhausers maiden name was Mary Bloomeke daughter of John & Elizabeth Bloomeke. She was 38 years old. Her father came to Nodaway county from Ohio when she was baby, to start a home for his wife and child, who were to follow him at a certain time.
Mr. Bloomeke had been seriously injured in a circular saw sometime previous to this and it was thought that the trip west would benefit him. He made the trip on horseback and the constant jar of the ride opened his wound afresh and by the time he reached the vicinity of Conception where he and other friends had come to invest in land he was in a dangerous condition and died soon after he reached his destination.
Telegraph and mailservice was so slow that word could not be sent to the young mother before she started with her baby to join her husband and when she reached Conception he was already buried.
She returned to Ohio and later married George Kimmett and came to Nodaway county and located in the Clyde vicinity where Mary grew to womanhood and married Nov 4, 1891 to William Steinhauser. She was the mother of 12 children, 8 of whom survive with their father.

James Watson was the son of Hugh Watson and Isabella Craigh. James Watson Patented land grant 21 March 1823 Southwold Tnsp. Lot 8 STR, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada.1 James Watson came into the area of Watson's Corners before 1810, as he returned to the USA to get his wife and family in 1810, on his way back into Canada his son James David Watson was born Dec. 31, 1813 at Long Point, James Watson had received a crown grant of 200 acres at Watson's Corners. After bringing his kids back from the States, he wanted them educated, so in 1816 he donated one acre of land for a school site on Lot 8 at the corner of his property. A log school 20 x 18 feet was constructed of timber. James was a trustee. In 1820 the school burned down and a frame one was erected in 1830, later in 1893 it was made of brick - still stands but has since been sold in 1964 (but only after the then present trustees had made sure of legal ownership) and is now a private home. The old school had doubled in its early days as a church and a school, in 1849 the Old Union Church moved int the school at Watson's Corners.
David and his wife and several others were buried on his property. There were approximately 20 graves according to Mae Best (neighbor farm when she was interviewed in 1982). The owner farmer in the late 1930's/1940's had the cemetery vacated and plowed over. They threw the stones into a nearby creek (according to Mae Best). Watson's Corners once was called Manchester after the place Richard Williams family had come from. They were supposed to have lived in the area before the Watson's.2,1 He 10 July thru 20 August, 1812 - 42 days service under Capt. Gilman Willson's Company, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada.1 He married Mary Bodine, daughter of Jacob Bodine and Anna *Nancy* Catharine. James Watson was buried in 1841 at Watson's Corners, Elgin, ON, Canada; Probably on his farm - Lot 9.1 He died in 1841 at on his farm - Lot 8- Watson's Corners, Elgin, ON, Canada.3
