About Me

My name is Jason H. Jones. I was born in Indiana, yet my family is all from southern Kentucky, namely Wayne and McCreary County. I first got interested in genealogy about 10 years ago when I realized I knew next to nothing about my family past the most recent couple of generations.

I got obsessed for a while and all I did was research. Not everything you'll find here will be gospel - sometimes I took things on faith rather than look for sources - but I've done what I can to shore up my major lines. It'll be obvious by the sources if research has really been done or not. If you see mistakes here feel free to email me and if you have some source material I'll update what I have.

One of the major things I've always heard is that my main ancestor, James Jones, came to Virgina about the ship Society in 1698. I never once found credible evidence for this and the date never really matched up for me. Does it really make sense that he was old enough to come over in 1698, then have his namesake son in 1757? At a minimum he'd be 59 years old and I don't see him naming a son after himself at that age. If you've get evidence, please share it with me.
