Norman DeLong was mechanic
Norman L. DeLong, 46, of Jackson township, Jackson Center RD 1,
died at 7:12 p.m. Friday in Greenville Hospital after suffering
heart attack four weeks ago.
He was born in Rockland April 5, 1927, to Guy and Mildred Pryor
DeLong. He married the former Esther Shingledecker Dec. 13,
He lived in the Jackson Center area for the past two years and
prior to that had lived in Sandy Lake for nine years. He was a
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Norman L. DeLong Jr., Jackson
Center, and Rick DeLong, at home; four daughters, Mrs. James
Brunson, of Grove City; Mrs. Thomas (Vicky) Buckley, Meadville;
and Kathy, both at home; one brother, William DeLong, Emlenton;
sisters, Mrs. Donald (Harriet) Nelson, of Kennerdell; Mrs. John
(Jessie) Altmire, of Eau Claire; Mrs. Charles (Doris) Hetzler,
Rockland, and Mrs. Wesley (Mildred) Wise, of Olean, N.Y.; and
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Edward P.
McMullen Funeral Home, Sandy Lake. The family will receive
the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

DONALD. E. NELSON SR.
Donald E. (Buck) Nelson Sr., 82 of Kennerdell RD 1 died at
am Tuesday at Venango Manor.
Born August 4, 1910, in Oleopolis, he was a son of the late
Robert B. and Martha Borland Nelson.
He was married to Harriet DeLong on February 10, 1934, and she
preceded him in death on July 23, 1978.
Mr. Nelson worked in the oil fields of the Oleopolis area in
early years He also worked in the limber industry for seven
for National Transit Pump and Machine for two and one-half
retired from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Franklin in 1975
31 years of service.
He attended the Oleopolis and Plumer schools.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the Rockland Sportsmen's Club, the
Quarter Century Club of Chicago Pneumatic and the International
Association of Machine and Aerospace Workers. He also served
Venango County Fire Police and the Rockland Volunteer Fire
Surviving are two sons, Donald E. Nelson Jr. of Seneca and Ray
Nelson of Meadville; three daughters, Mrs. John (Norma) Barthen
Franklin, Mrs. Daniel (Louise) Durkit of Laurel, Md., and Mrs.
(Francis) Fitterer of Mount Airy, Md.; 17 grandchildren; and 12
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death
five brothers, Clifford, Samuel, Harold, Ralph and Rolla
two sisters, Nellie Miller and Pearl Black.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm
today and Thursday at Huff Chapel in Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday in the funeral
home. Mr. Nelson's daughter-in-lay, Rev Roberta Nelson of the
