1749 John Tate arrives in the Colonies
1768 John Taite appears on Cumberland County Pa. Tax List
1771 Sold his property, known as "Belfast," to James Wilson
1775 Enlists in Continental Army from Pennsylvania
1776 John Re-Enlist in Jersy Line, from N. J.
1778 Wounded in skirmish at Shankstown.
1783 Discharged from Revolutionary War service.
1789 Eldest son, John Ventile Tate Jr. born in Pennsylvania 15, November.
1794 John Tate m/2 Washington Co. Tennessee to Elizabeth Parkeson, Nee Holiday.
1795 Living Smith Co. Tennessee
1805 Owns 100 acres near Covington Kentucky.  Second son, Charles is born.
1808 Third son, William D, is born Smith County, Tennessee.
1812 Fourth son, James, born, and eldest son John V. Tate Jr. enlist in war of 1812, Lebanon, Tennessee.
1819 John Tate applies for Rev. War pension, Smith Co. Tn. receives $8.00 per mo.
1835 Dies 12 August, 100 yrs old, buried Smith County Tennessee.

John Tate Jr. born 15, November 1789 in Pa., moved across the mountains with his family, from Pennsylvania to Tennessee.  Was aged 5 when his Father remarried, ca. 1810. John V. Tate Jr. married Sarah Maricle, dau of George Maricle.  13 children born in Smith County.  He m/2 around 1836 to Melinda J. Caskey b. 1810 in Ky.  They have 12 more children.

After their father's death, John V. and his half brothers, William, James and Charles Tate began selling their land in Tn. And prepare to bring their families to Illinois.
1843 John V. Tate receives two land grants in Southern Illinois and settles along the Hamilton - Saline County line near Cornerville, north of Galatia, Illinois.
1850 John V. Tate, Melinda & their children appear on the Saline County Census.  James Tate settles in White County, William D. in Hamilton County, & Charles in Franklin County, Illinois.
1858 John Ventile Tate dies at his home near Cornerville, October 5th and is buried Good Hope Cemetery, located on the Hamilton County portion of his land holdings.
