Also known as the New Salem Consolidated School. It was erected in 1926 on Marshville-Euto Road, about 16 miles NE of Monroe, NC in New Salem Township. The new institution replaced seven small one and two-teacher schools. Most students lived within an eight-mile radius. Enrollment for the first year it was operated was 409 pupils. The main building was torn down in 1950-1951 and replaced during the next two years. During those two years all classes were held in the Ag. Building and the three Churches in New Salem. |
