Above: Doctor Franklin Belk was born 28 Oct 1857 in Union County to George Washington Lafayette Belk and Terressa (Tressie) Doster Belk. He died in Charlotte on 26 Dec 1931. He had three brothers: Cebrun Correll (CC) Belk, John Robert Belk (obit below) and Christopher Memphis Belk (obit below). His father GWL Belk died in the Civil War and Tressie married again to Charles Fisher Helms, another Civil War veteran.

Above: Doctor Franklin Belk and wife Sarah Roxanna Belk. They married on 11 Mar 1880 and they had 14 children. One was my great grandfather William Atlas Belk (see photo below). Roxanna was a daugher of James Mason Richardson and Esther Helms. Frank and Roxanna are buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Charlotte in an unmarked grave next to their daughter Eunice Belk Purser.
Above: Obituary of Terressa (Tressie) Doster Belk Helms. She was the wife of C. Fisher Helms and the daughter of Obed and Leah (Winchester) Doster. She was first married to G.W.L. Belk. She was the mother of Doctor Franklin Belk.
